progress right on schedule for Frankie Muniz
With two races remaining in the 2006 Formula BMW
USA season, Jensen MotorSport rookie driver
Frankie Muniz is already making preparations for
his 2007 competition in the Champ Car Atlantic
Championship.
Jensen MotorSport driver Muniz had a very
successful first test in one of the team's 2005
specification Swift Atlantic race cars at a
circuit near Toronto, Canada on August 22nd.
Muniz drove over 100 miles on non-series
specification Hoosier tires per the Atlantic
series rules, clocking a best time within two
seconds of the times posted by 2006 regular
Jensen Atlantic drivers Tim Bridgman and Ricardo
Vassmer.
Frankie Muniz stated, "It's amazing to
think about how quickly my racing career has
progressed. Six months ago I had never driven a
racing car, and now I've put in a full-day
Atlantic test clocking times that are not too far
off veteran competitive drivers. With an
extensive schedule of Atlantic tests this
off-season, I am very excited to think where I
can be on the grid for the first race of the 2007
Champ Car Atlantic championship."
Muniz will travel with the Jensen MotorSport
team to the Champ Car Grand Prix de Montreal,
where he will compete in the FF1600 support race
for some additional race experience.

Denver Grand Prix weekend
Frankie Muniz also had a tough weekend. After
crashing early in morning practice, Frankie had
little time to learn the track and as a result
qualified near the back of the pack for Race1.
Frankie managed to work his way up to 17th in the
short race. In Race 2 Muniz was forced to retire
after contact resulted in front end damage and
him losing his front wing.
The Atlantic half of Team Jensen is now
looking to turn its fortunes around at its
hometown race in Montreal on August 27 while the
FBMW team will be heading to Mosport near Toronto
for Labour Day weekend for the final two races of
the FBMW USA season.
