Sebring Pre-Season Test

Muniz Shines in Florida
January 14, 2007 - Frankie Muniz began his Formula Atlantic career with two podiums the past two weekends in the SCCA National events at Sebring and Homestead driving Jensen MotorSport's Swift 014 race car.

At the famous Sebring Florida circuit, Frankie finished in 2nd place on January 7th. At Homestead-Miami Speedway this weekend, Frankie again finished in a strong 2nd place.

Jensen MotorSport team owner Eric Jensen states, "We brought Frankie to these races for several reasons. First, we wanted to give him some additional race experience in advance of his Champ Car Atlantic debut at Las Vegas in April. Second, these races were an opportunity for Frankie to work with his Atlantic engineers and mechanics in a practical race situation. Third, we wanted Frankie to gain experience on these circuits; especially at Sebring where he will drive again in just 2 weeks at the official Champ Car Atlantic test the weekend of January 27th and 28th."

Jensen MotorSport chief engineer Adam Marchitto states, "We've seen that Frankie has the pace to be competitive in the Champ Car Atlantic championship in 2007. These strong finishes give more proof that Frankie is more than just a novelty as a professional race car driver. Frankie put on a very good show, with an impressive race pace, and was only beat by 2006 SCCA Champion Mirl Swan by about 6 seconds at Homestead. We decided to keep our cars in the 2005 pro specification, despite the HP deficit per the SCCA rules, but that made it actually more fun to see Frankie battle for the outright win."

The team will be busy at the shop this week preparing its Swift 016's in advance of the Sebring official series test on January 27th & 28th.

Testing for Champ Car Atlantic
January 6, 2007 - Pre-season testing for the Champ Car Atlantic season begins at the end of this month. On January 27, Frankie will be at the Sebring International Raceway in Florida for the first weekend of testing. There will also be two further testing weekends - one in February and one in March.
