Jose weekend
Meanwhile, Frankie Muniz fought hard for
something of a break-out weekend at San Jose.
People often forget that Frankie is only in his
6th month ever of race driving. Unlike all of the
other rookie drivers in Formula BMW USA,
Frankie also never participated in any karting or
school race series. Frankie has consistently
improved his position during the season, and was
having a very strong run in the Sunday race
fighting for 10th position (out of 26) when he
whacked the wall on the exit of turn 3. Muniz was
disappointed, but excited to know well now that
he can challenge for points for the rest of the
season.

Results for rounds 9 and 10
Frankie's first race of the weekend ended early
after another driver came out to wide on the
track and cut in too sharp on Frankie. Frankie's
front wing had been clipped and it snapped clean
off the racecar.
In his second race, he managed to get into 11th
place, but when he tried to go faster on the
track, he side-swiped the barrier and blew out
his tire and the rear suspension. He veered into
a safety zone without incident.

Team with Muniz in Hollywood
In the days before races #9 and #10 of
the Formula BMW USA championship at San Jose, the
Jensen team is taking some fun time together at
the home of #2 Epson Team Jensen driver Frankie
Muniz in the heart of Hollywood.
"It's been a hectic year to date with
testing and racing across North America, so
having some days off with the guys at home is
pretty fun", says BMW driver Frankie Muniz.
"This week is also the premiere of the new
Will Ferrell movie Talladega Nights, and I have
some invitations to take my team manager Remco
Mutsaerts and our team sponsor, which should be a
good night out".
The team tested last week at the new Miller
MotorSport Park in Salt Lake City. Frankie Muniz
posted quick times throughout the 2 day test,
breaking into the top 10 in several sessions for
the first time in his short racing career. This
bodes well for the streets of San Jose race,
where the team is predicting a good run from
Frankie could well place him with a top 10
results an points, which would be a major
accomplishment given that Muniz is only in his
6th month of car racing.
